Gary Windass’ (played by Mikey North) future in Coronation Street rests on one thing; whether or not the truth about him killing Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) is exposed. In recent scenes, Gary’s ex-wife, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) found out exactly what happened in the woods, and no one knows whether or not she is going to tell the police. Sarah’s new husband – and Gary’s arch nemesis – Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) suspects Gary to be a murderer, but he needs concrete evidence to bring him down. There is also one other person who is suspicious of Gary’s story – Laura Neelan (Kel Allen) and it seems she could be the only person who could spare him a jail sentence for the murderous crime he committed.
During a conversation with Express.co.uk, the actress who plays the newcomer spoke about what her character would do, should she learn exactly what happened to her estranged husband.
And it seems, Gary going to jail, would be Laura’s worst nightmare.
When asked if Laura would want Gary to be punished for killing Rick, Kel answered: “This is Laura! She comes from such a seedy background herself, and that dealings with the police are more trying to get rid of the police.
“And so for her, she’s underground, she’s earthy.
“She’d definitely be bribing Gary,” the actress added.
“I think she would bribe him, she would bribe the hell out of him, to get money and maybe just to buy some more clothes, party nights and stuff!”
So could Laura be the one to bring the loan shark down from his pedestal?
“I would love Laura be the one who finds him out and uses him for every scrap of money that has got in him and for everything that she wants from him.
“I wouldn’t want her to send him down because I think she need him on a side to be able to fund her lifestyle,” Kel said in reference to Gary being taken away from the cobbles in handcuffs.
But does Laura realise how dangerous Gary really is?
“No, she doesn’t realise,” Kel revealed. “ [But Laura] was married to a loan shark for 15 years!
“In her eyes she could eat Gary for breakfast, she could chew him up and spit him out because to her, her husband’s a huge loan shark and she’s lived that life and she’s dealt with the likes of Rick Neelan.

“So to her Gary’s just his little minions and he runs is one of the little ones that runs around doing things.
“She’s obviously now found him out for being the one who’s putting the money in the safety deposit box and she’s aware of that and but I think at time, I think she sees there’s something in him, there’s something more in him where he could rattle her, and there’s fear there.
“[But] I think she can deal with that kind of man a million times over,” the actress said.
When asked whether Laura is a match for Gary, Kel said: “Yes, definitely”.
“I think it’s great to see those scenes between them, where there’s so much to to-ing and fro-ing because I think with Gary, he can intimidate so many people, so it’s nice to be able to see a character giving it back,” she explained.
Should the police come knocking, will Laura provide an alibi for Gary in return for some cash?
As for how this storyline is going to end, well Gary is set to walk down the aisle later this month.
He and Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) are set to say “I do”, but will his secret be revealed before or after that?
