Danniella Westbrook reveals son Kai, 20, 'saved her life' after kicking down a bathroom door to rescue her after drugs overdose

DANNIELLA Westbrook revealed her son had to kick down a bathroom door to save her from a recent overdose – and it was seeing his fear that made her quit drugs once and for all.

The 43-year-old revealed that Kai, 20, was forced to step in after she relapsed on cocaine following her break up from toyboy George Arnold.

She said: "He (Kai) came over to the hotel I was staying in and said, ‘listen, I’m going to sort this out’, then he went to go out to the studio because he was recording.

“And I just started using. I didn’t think he was coming back and he put the toilet door through and found me on the floor. And I was out, gone. And when I came to I thought, ‘I can’t do this’. I just see the fear in this kid and it broke me. And I cleaned up.”

Earlier she opened up about her "year from hell" and said: "I had such great expectations coming out of Big Brother and I was so poorly, because of the surgery, and I couldn't work.
"I felt like I was letting everybody down as it was meant to be my year to come back and do things.

"I relapsed badly and due to the fact of relapsing, George said 'I can't live with this'. He doesn't do drugs.

"I see myself getting lower and then I withdraw, withdraw, withdraw and I completely withdraw from myself.

"I tried to hide it from George and then I started using again.

"George has never taken drugs in his life and he didn't know what to do.

"He said 'I can't do it, I can't watch you die in front of me'. And I just lost it."

However, she inadvertently revealed that things are back on with George, who she described as "the perfect man".

She said: "I speak to George every day, I saw him the last couple of days. The best thing that could have happened to me was him leaving me."

Today Kai appeared on Loose Women to tell the nation that the troubled star "is a good mum".

Speaking backstage, he shared a poem he had prepared.

He said: "Mum I know you've made mistakes but who hasn't?

"I'm super proud of you, you're only human. I know a lot of people have always put you down but I know you've always had the confidence to get back up.

"I'm always gonna be there for you no matter what.

"You're also a big inspiration to me but at the same time can be a huge aggravation to me. I love you loads. Your son, Kai."

He spoke warmly about Danniella, and explained his mindset on living with an addict for a mum.

He said: "I feel like I have to be the parent.

"Sometimes things collapse and you pick them up and keep the ball rolling as soon as you stop moving your life will come crumbling round you.

"I'm not worried about anything as you live one life, and you live life as you want to live it. I always try and steer someone in the right direction."

Yesterday The Sun online revealed that today's double appearance is a milestone for Danniella.

The pair have put their feud behind them and Kai is now helping her get her life back together following her recent cocaine relapse.

The former EastEnders star, 43, who has spent years battling drug problems, has admitted she fell off the wagon when she was struck down with blood poisoning.

She is now being supported by her son, 20, and they are putting their previously strained relationship behind them to tackle her issues together.

They will appear on Loose Women together tomorrow, and Kai will be supporting his mum as she opens up about devastating struggles she faced in 2016.

A source told The Sun Online: "Kai is so proud of his mum for owning up about her demons and facing them head on.

"He recently spoke about how tough it was for him at times as a child, but he loves his mum so much.

"He wants her to be happy and healthy, and she wants the same for him.

"They are supporting one another, and it's really bolstered Danniella's confidence.

"Having him by her side tomorrow will be a really special moment for her."

Kai is Danniella’s son from a two-year relationship with Robert Fernandez.

Danniella suffered a terrible time last year as she lost her home and her car, and battled septicaemia stemming from dental implants she had fitted for an episode of Celebrity Botched Up Bodies.

This week she admitted she started taking cocaine again to deal with pain of her medical condition.

She told Now magazine: "I was dabbing cocaine around my mouth and rubbing it in to numb the pain.

"I was hospitalised, I could have died. I had three operations in seven weeks.”

The ex-EastEnder’s admission comes after she was seen with a prominent bandage under her nose in November.

She previously blew more than £250,000 on the durg at the height of her addiction.

Her £400-a-day habit was so bad the drug eroded her septum, the cartilage dividing the nostrils.

But she quit drugs in 2000 after doctors warned cocaine would kill her.

Kai has previously spoken about the pair's troubled relationship.

In an emotional interview with The Sun On Sunday, he revealed he still has flashbacks of Danniella overdosing on cocaine.
