EastEnders’ Jessica Plummer lands first role since Chantelle’s brutal murder

Jessica Plummer has already been snapped up by bosses for her next acting gig shortly after being killed off on EastEnders.

Her character, Chantelle Atkins, was murdered by abusive husband Gray after a harrowing storyline of domestic abuse.

Now, Jessica, 28, is already filming scenes for an upcoming TV show, Auditions, which has is being written and directed by Sheridan De Myers.

But Jessica isn't the only EastEnders alumni who has been cast for the show, former bad boy Gary Beadle who played the role of Paul Trueman has also landed a role.

In photos posted by Inside Trak, Jessica's appearance was first revealed in a teaser snap which showed the back of the star, with the caption: "Can you identify the actor, in this beautiful photograph?"

Her identity was later revealed on Tuesday with pictures showing the former Neon Jungle singer wearing a blue off-the-shoulder top, beaming from ear-to-ear with the caption: "Well done to those who guessed…the mystery actor in the mood lighting photographs is non-other than the incredible Jessica Plummer!"

Another picture showed Jessica looking series as she gazed into the camera lens.

Pictures posted by Inside Trak on Wednesday saw the singer turned actress filming on a street in London outside what appears to be a restaurant or bar.

While video footage by the production team showed Jess laying back on a sofa smiling and pouting.

Currently, her role on the show is not yet clear.

Jessica left EastEnders earlier this month after almost two years on the soap – shortly after her final scenes aired, she took to social media to say she was "in absolute bits".

In an emotional Instagram post, she penned: "Now that the dust has slightly settled, I’d just like to say…

"On a personal note, I am in absolute bits to be leaving the show. I miss even this bits I thought I hated (that dodgy outside toilet near the police station with 20 million spiders)."

She added: "All of it has been a dream come true. Without getting speechy, I owe SO many people my thanks for believing in me on my journey.

"Julia Crampsie, my agent Jonathan, Liza Mellody, Carolyn Weinstein, Jon Sen, Kate Oates… and SO many more, including our viewers."

Jessica went on to say: "I came from a girl band, wanting nothing more than to prove myself as the actor I trained to be.

"I was trusted with such an important story, on one of the most iconic soaps in history. Thank you!! It has been an unbelievable 20 months.

"Finally I can watch EastEnders again as a viewer, without cringing whenever I hear my voice."

Jess shot to fame in 2013 as one-quarter of pop group Neon Jungle before the group disbanded in 2015.
