EastEnders tragic death confirmed as first look photos show funeral and flowers

EastEnders has confirmed a death is happening soon after photographers snapped away at Lola Pearce's funeral procession.

Lola (played by Danielle Harold) was previously told that she had less than six months to live, after she was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in 2022.

Sadly, the beloved soap character was told her efforts to prolong her life hadn't worked, and the chemotherapy wasn't doing anything to help any more.

Lola began developing more symptoms too, like memory loss and losing her concentration.

She was then left heartbroken after she and her husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) were told her life now had a countdown.

And it looks like that countdown clock could be closer to the end than fans might have thought, as the BBC soap has already been filming Lola's funeral.

New photographs taken recently showed a funeral procession on its way to the BBC set, complete with a hearse made up with colourful flowers.

The white coffin was also covered in hand-written messages from Lola's loved ones.

The tragic character's name was also spelled out in white flowers, decorated with bright pink roses.

Viewers have already witnessed plenty of emotional scenes involving Lola and it's clear there are still even more to come.

And they knew that Lola would die before the end of the year after a flash-forward scene earlier this year gave a glimpse of Christmas.

There was a photo of Lola on the bar of the Queen Vic, which usually acts as a show of respect from whoever owns it.

That wasn't the only heartbreak viewers have seen recently, as they finally saw the return of Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) – though under emotional circumstances.

The character did not return from the dead as so many wished, instead she appeared as a figment of daughter Amy's imagination.

The young character has been going through a difficult time, and Roxy appeared to give her a bit of a pep talk during a counselling session.
