Emmerdale star reveals coronavirus may dramatically change his storyline

Emmerdale’s Liam Fox has revealed that the coronavirus pandemic could dramatically change his character storyline as he prepares to return to filming.

The actor, who plays Dan Spencer in the ITV soap, joined Lorraine Kelly on today’s Good Morning Britain where he talked about the show resuming production and what that means for his storyline.

‘He’s [Dan] been in London for his physiotherapy and then we’ll see,’ Liam said. ‘I suppose it’s going to depend on the virus which is going to affect storylines where everyone goes.

‘There will be plans for everybody, but we’ll have to take baby steps. Whatever plans are for six months for any character could change dramatically.

‘As far as I know, this story will go on for a while, it should go on for a good few times.’

Liam went onto talk about the new safety regulations Emmerdale is taking on in wake of the current pandemic.

‘There’s loads of measures in place, they are doing so much to make it a safe environment for everybody,’ he disclosed.

‘From what I know from people back there already, it sounds like it’s as safe as it possibly could be.

‘The biggest danger would be getting a coffee on the way to work, which I won’t be doing.’

At the end of last month, ITV confirmed that Emmerdale will not be coming off-air as production continues.

The ongoing filming of lockdown specials appears to have got the set into the new rhythm of safe distancing and adhering to guidelines so the soap will continue to film new episodes beyond the standalone episodes to keep it on air.

The Yorkshire based programme recently confirmed a phased return to filming with stripped back cast and crew while observing the recently published health and safety guidelines for TV productions to resume filming.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
