Emmerdale’s Sam Dingle actor drops huge hint cast are about to return to set as he shaves off his hair – The Sun
EMMERDALE's James Hooton has hinted the cast are returning to the Dales after shaving off his hair.
The actor – who is best known for playing Sam Dingle on the ITV soap – sent the rumour mill into overdrive today as he took to Twitter to debut his freshly shaven head.
Sharing a before and after snap of his hair, James wrote: "So long #readytomingle. Welcome back #readytodingle #emmerdale."
The first snap showed the 46-year-old soap star with longer hair and stubble, while his hair had been shaven off in the second.
Fans couldn't help but speculate over the tweet, with one writing: "You been given a filming green light?"
Another said: "Welcome back Sam!!!!"
A third commented: "Sam's back."
A fourth asked: "Are you going back? Stay safe won't you x."
Emmerdale declined to comment when approached by The Sun Online.
The coronavirus pandemic forced the soap to halt filming in March, with episodes likely to run out in May.
Last month, ITV boss Kevin Lygo revealed that actors could be tested for coronavirus when they return to set during a (virtual) chat at the Edinburgh Television Festival.
He also said that older actors will be protected for longer so characters like Eric Pollard, played by 71-year-old Chris Chittell, could be written out for a while.
Soap bosses could maintain social distancing on set by using camera trickery to make actors look closer than they really are.
He said we'll also see more two-handers – episodes based entirely around two characters to minimise footfall in the studio.
