Faye Windass (Ellie Leach) is left utterly heartbroken in Coronation Street next week when Dr Gaddas explains that she’s suffering from early onset menopause.

The popular character, as viewers will recall, thought she was pregnant several weeks ago, only to discover that there was no baby.

She has a follow-up appointment with Dr Gaddas next week, and it’s here that she receives the news that well and truly knocks her for six.

Gaddas tells Faye that she is suffering from early menopause, and therefore she and Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) won’t be able to have children of their own.

‘I want to have a family!’, exclaims Faye in the above clip, taken from Monday’s (May 2) edition of the ITV soap. ‘I want to be a mum. A proper mum.

‘I had a baby and I gave her away because I wasn’t ready. I thought I’d have more time. [That] I’d have more children!’

‘Me and Craig have spoke about being parents one day’.

The couple had resolved to try for a baby earlier this month, before deciding to leave it until later down the line when they felt ready to become parents.

This news, however, changes everything.

Faye subsequently tells Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) what Dr Gaddas told her, before she returns home and breaks the news to Craig.

How will he react?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday May 2 at 8pm on ITV.
