Gogglebox star quits Channel 4 show to explore ‘new opportunities’

The Malone family have been a regular fixture of Gogglebox ever since they joined the Channel 4 show in 2014. Over the years, fans have enjoyed getting to know parents Tom and Julie, their sons Tom Jnr and Sean and their lovable dogs. However, the eldest Malone son has announced his departure from the tele-watching show. 

Ahead of the new series, Tom Jnr tweeted: “To the future,” with a picture of himself and a statement. 

The statement read: “So after six years it’s finally time to put down the remote and say goodbye to Gogglebox.

“I’ve loved every minute and I’m eternally grateful to Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for allowing me to be a part of the show.

“But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it’s time to explore them.”

“I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid!

“P.S. Don’t worry my parents and my brother will still be on the show to keep you guys entertained every Friday.”

The Channel 4 star accompanied the statement with a picture of himself holding a sign which read: “Back on the market. Get at me with any TV work.
