Grief-stricken Jai lashes out in Emmerdale and blames Suni for Rishi's death
Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) was consumed with grief in Emmerdale upon finding out that dad Rishi (Bhasker Patel) had died, pinning the blame for the tragic accident at Suni’s (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) door.
The newlywed headed up to Holdgate on Friday (July 28) to make things right with Rishi following their falling out over his parentage, but nothing could’ve prepared him for what he saw upon entering the property.
Rishi was dead on the floor, right in front of the stairs.
Jai desperately tried to revive his dad to no avail before bursting into tears, devastated that not only is his beloved father gone but that he never got to make things right with him prior to his death.
Suni, meanwhile, returned to Holdgate shortly afterwards, having spent the night with Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope), and he was absolutely heartbroken by what he saw, finding Jai holding Rishi’s body in his arms.
The police were subsequently notified of what transpired, with PC Swirling (Andy Moore) arriving to investigate the incident, determined to find out what exactly led to Rishi’s death.
Jai, however, felt that Suni was to blame, arguing that if he’d returned home instead of staying over at Nicky’s then this might not have happened.
‘Whoever that bloke was, I hope he was worth it!’, snapped Jai, much to the horror of both Suni and Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), who was quick to defend the former, saying it’s ‘not Suni’s fault’.

Jai, however, disagreed, reiterating that Suni should’ve returned to Holdgate. ‘He should’ve been here!’, he exclaimed. ‘And now my dad’s dead’.
Rishi was killed off after 12 years on Thursday (July 27), with the character seen lying motionless at the bottom of the stairs after failing to turn up to the wedding.
A cause of death has not yet been determined.
Emmerdale continues Monday July 31 at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
