Im A Celeb viewers thrown by South African series airing in April
I'm A Celebrity…South Africa: Janice Dickinson doesn't recognise Paul and Shaun
ITV viewers tuned in on Monday evening to watch the first instalment of the I’m A Celebrity spin-off show, South Africa.
With nine iconic campmates from past series returning to test themselves once again, they all will be faced with various trials in order to win the show.
Filmed late last year, fans of the long-running show will welcome back Janice Dickinson, Carol Voderman, Helen Flanagan, Paul Burrell, Amir Khan, Jordan Banjo, Phil Turnell and Shaun Ryder.
Leaving their glamorous lives behind once again, the contestants are fighting to win the first ever title of I’m A Celebrity ‘Legend’ with Geordie duo Ant and Dec at the helm of it all.
From the outset it was clear their South African journey wouldn’t be plain sailing as the celebrities were faced with a BushTucker trial instantly.
However, it seemed that many viewers watching were thrown by seeing Ant and Dec on their screens so early on in the year as the duo usually presents the Australian show at the end of the year.
Taking to Twitter, @CharlieGough888 commented: “I’m sure my Christmas Tree should be up by now!”
@Amymvee1971 commented: “I feel like I should be putting the Xmas tree up.”
@Whathannahwrote added: “Seeing the #ImACeleb titles at this time of year has totally thrown me. Now feeling like I should be counting down to Christmas”

@Tvzoneextra tweeted: “Watching #ImACeleb in April feels completely and utterly wrong.”
@Dawn_Ashlea said: “Feels wrong watching this in April.”
@MeganRMartin96 added: “Hearing that theme tune this time of the year feels so wrong #ImACeleb.”
The first stars facing a challenge to win a meal for the camp were Carol, Jordan and Amir who were faced with a 50-metre drop over the edge of an imposing South African mountain.
After they plummeted down, they had to remember a code before being hoisted back up to the top.
Once at the top, they used their codes to open a padlock which was keeping their star locked in a cage.
Ahead of her return, Carol confessed she enjoys watching the celebrities get up to mischief on the show, she said: “I love it when people get the giggles.
“I like it when they are cheeky or bend the rules instead of being nicey nice! I loved it when Amir Khan ate all the strawberries! I love people being mischievous.”
I’m A Celebrity South Africa continues weekdays on ITV from 9pm
