James Argent unveils 2.5st weight loss two weeks after gastric band surgery

James Argent looked happier and healthier than ever as he appeared on Tuesday's Loose Women boasting a huge smile.

The Only Way Is Essex star who recently underwent life saving gastric band surgery, revealed to the panel he'd shed a whopping two and a half stone in weight.

Arg, 33, had the surgical procedure just two weeks ago but seemed to be in great shape and spirit as he spoke to Judi Love, 40, Ruth Langsford, 61, Janet Street-Porter, 74 and Coleen Nolan, 56.

When asked about how much weight he'd actually lost, the reality star proudly announced: "I've lost two and half stone in two weeks."

Although Arg was happy with the results, he explained that it certainly was no walk in the park trying to maintain his weight loss goals.

He said: "I don't feel depressed there are tough days and it's a big life style change for me.

"The recovery has been pretty hard and some days are tougher than others.

"Gradually each day gets easier and easier."

When discussing his daily food consumption the TV star explained: I've been on nothing but liquids for two weeks and now I've moved onto mushy food.

"I'd appreciate to have a chicken salad or a bit of rice.

"But I've only got two weeks of mushy food and then I can get a nice chicken salad down my neck."

Moving on from the life saving surgery, outspoken Janet heaped particular praise to Arg who had been free from drugs and booze for over a year now.

To which Arg chimed that he'd been clean for "a year and four months", while hailing those who had offered up support and love to him during the tough ordeal.

It seemed ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright and TOWIE pal Mark Wright had all been tremendous help to Arg during his darker moments.

The reality star turned singer went on: "Lydia has been amazing, we're not together but she's been amazing, we've known each other since we were teens.

"I'm so lucky to have so many people who care about me."

Further along in the interview, Arg explained that he is now hoping to meet someone special following his very public split with former flame Gemma Collins.

He finished: "I would love to meet someone, I would love to start a family.

"I feel like I'm in a place in my life where I can take care of a lady now."
