Johnathan Ashworth taken off air as blunder throws GMB into chaos: ‘How’d that happen?’

Good Morning Britain was back with the penultimate instalment of the week. Today, however, Piers Morgan was absence as the original line-up was resumed whereby Susanna Reid was joined by Ben Shephard to present. Joining them on a live video link to discuss the latest surrounding the coronavirus pandemic and the statues and monuments which are being brought down by local councils following Bristols’ Edward Colston figure being thrown into the river last weekend, was Jonathan Ashworth MP. During the interview with the Labour politician, however, GMB lost signal and he was cut off. 

Ashworth said: “Well first of all, this statue in Bristol, that should be a decision of the people of Bristol and whether they want to put it in a museum or whatever. That’s for the people of -” 

“I said we were going to lose him shortly but we really did lose him! Sadly we’ve lost the signal to John Ashworth there I’m afraid,” Shephard replied. 

Reid asked: “How did that happen?” 

“I think he went down sadly at that moment. We were told we had until five past seven and then the signal runs out!” Shephard joked.
