The BBC has begun airing Line of Duty from the very beginning every weeknight on BBC One. With fans enjoying the very first series which premiered in 2012, viewers are curious to know more about the world of AC-12. Where is Line of Duty set? Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.
Where is Line of Duty set?
Line of Duty follows the work of the anti-corruption unit, AC-12.
For the past few seasons, they have uncovered corrupt officers working for an organised crime syndicate (OCS) including D.C.I. Tony Gates (played by Lennie James).
D.I. Lindsay Denton (Keeley Hawes), Sergeant Danny Waldron (Daniel Mays), D.C.I. Roseanne Huntley (Thandie Newton) and undercover officer D.S. John Corbett (Stephen Graham) but they have not managed to track down the main officer.
At the end of season four, Detective Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan (Craig Parkinson) revealed the officer working with the OCS went by the name of ‘H’ and AC-12 are yet to uncover their identity.

The drama is set in an unnamed British city, known only in the series as ‘The City’.
In the series, viewers have also been told the details AC-12 operate ‘somewhere around the M6.’
Over the years, fans have spotted clues in the background, such as a map of Bordesley Green in Birmingham, suggesting the series if set somewhere in the Midlands.
Birmingham based fans also recognised in the first series the old Central Fire Station on Lancaster Circus and Heartlands Parkway.
Telephone numbers in the series have an 0121 area code, the area code for Birmingham, further suggesting the show’s location is Birmingham.
Postal codes in the series include the B (Birmingham) and MK (Milton Keynes) confirming the series is set in the Midlands.
Viewers also recognised the location of AC-12’s headquarters, which were set in the old municipal bank on Broad Street.
Where is Line of Duty filmed?
The first season of Line of Duty was filmed in Birmingham, England.
Filming for the last four seasons of Line of Duty took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Birmingham will have spotted the grade II listed building turned pub, The Queen Arms in the first series.
Northern Irish viewers will recognise foyer of AC-12’s headquarters, which were filmed in the HQ of Invest Northern Ireland.

The Police Headquarters are filmed at the Belfast central Library and a funeral scene took place at St Anne’s Cathedral.
In the fifth series, viewers may also recognise the Stix and Stones restaurants, where Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) meets up with his estranged wife.
Speaking to The Radio Times on Monday, August 3 following the return to Line of Duty to BBC One, Jed Mercurio revealed filming for Line of Duty will resume soon but not in August as many people believe.
Mercurio is also hoping for filming to be complete by Christmas with a 2021 air date as originally planned.
He said: “We do [know the date]. It won’t come as a surprise to us.
“There are a few things to figure out, but we’re working towards a day…
“I know a date has been talked about in the press, but as usual they got it wrong.”
He added: “We are working towards a day and if we can get over all the hurdles we will be back filming.”
“We’d love to be on air next year, so we really have to make sure we complete our filming before Christmas.”
