The popular ITV chat show Loose Women had viewers excited throughout Thursday’s episode as host Charlene White kept referencing a “huge” and “exciting” announcement. The news ended up being after 13 months of only three members of the panel being on the lunchtime programme due to the pandemic, four panellists would be back in the studio next week.
Today it was the turn of Charlene to take charge, with Frankie Bridge and Jane Moore in the studio, while Kelle Bryan was on a live video link.
Throughout the hour-long instalment, Charlene said viewers would “not want to miss” an important announcement, which would be made at quarter past one.
However, when the announcement came, those watching at home were disappointed with the news.
Charlene said: “We’ve been teasing this the entire show, because we’ve got a very special announcement today – drumroll please…
“For the past 13 months there’s only been three Loose Women in the studio but from Monday we will be back to four.”
Jane asked: “13 months?” And Charlene added: “It’s been 13 months, because it’s the relaxing of the rules and we are getting a brand new socially distanced set which means we can welcome an extra lady to join us.
“And it’s especially special for the likes of Frankie and I because there are ladies on the Loose team that I have never met,” she explained.
Taking to Twitter, one said: “#LooseWomen so that was s***.”
Another viewer wrote: “What the actual. How in any way shape or form is that exciting news. #LooseWomen.”
“S*** announcement, not surprised whatsoever. #loosewomen,” another penned.
One sarcastic fan said: “That is earth shattering news! #LooseWomen.”
Some posted gifs to represent their annoyance, with one using a clip from Gavin and Stacey asking: “Is that it?!”

Someone else posted an animation of people standing for a round of applause, writing: “#loosewomen WOW that’s HUGE news!!!”
It comes after Covid restrictions meant a reduction in the number of people in the studio.
Loose Women usually has a panel of four with a variety of guests joining them.
There is usually a live audience too which interact with the topics and goings-on of the show.
Elsewhere in the show, the three discussed the Royals’ decision that none of them will be wearing military dress for the upcoming funeral of Prince Philip.
They speculated about why this decision had been made, concluding that it could have been due to Prince Harry losing his military titles or just based on wishes from the late Duke of Edinburgh.
The panel often discusses royal news, with Jane recently writing in her latest column that she believed the funeral to be an opportunity for siblings Prince William and Harry to mend their alleged rift.
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
