Lose A Stone In 21 Days enrages as doctor wears facemask 'wrong'

Lose A Stone In 21 Days With Michael Mosley enraged audiences tonight as a doctor wore his facemask incorrectly while assessing a patient.

An ear, nose and throat specialist dropped by to check up on one of the volunteers taking part in Dr Mosley’s fast 800 diet to see how likely his weight was affecting his snoring and whether there could be any other factors playing a part.

However, viewers couldn’t help but notice that the doctor wasn’t wearing his face covering over his nose and it didn’t take long before they pointed out the mistake on social media.

‘Whats the point of him wearing a face mask?’ asked one audience member.

Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘Wtaf am I watching #loseastonein21days the Dr has his mask just over his mouth and not nose! This was made during the pandemic!!!’

Face coverings have become commonplace in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, and wearing them is now mandatory shops in England.

There are 12 reasons why someone might be exempt from wearing a facemask, including anyone who would be caused extreme distress by donning, wearing or taking off a face covering.

Also listed is anyone who needs to avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to themselves or others.

According to the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC), and the UK Government, the most important thing is to ensure your mask is clean, that your nose and mouth are well covered, and that you avoid touching the mask once it’s on.

Lose A Stone In 21 Days began last week and follows Michael Mosley as he puts five volunteers on a low-calorie diet – name the fast 800 diet – to help get their health back on track after the coronavirus lockdown.

The fast 800 diet makes some bold claims, including supposedly cutting your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer and, because the first stage is a very low-calorie diet (VLCD), possibly reverse type 2 diabetes.

Tonight’s episode saw Michael get the volunteers doing high-intensity work-outs and yoga.

He also explored the connection between obesity and inflammation and the role it is thought to have in almost every major disease and illness, and Michael’s wife, author Dr Clare Bailey, shared recipes and food tips that help to build and maintain muscle.

Lose A Stone In 21 Days with Michael Mosley continues on Wednesday at 9pm on Channel 4.
