Marnie Simpson in ‘living hell’ after illness left her ‘bed bound’ in lockdown
Marnie Simpson has opened up about her difficult time during lockdown, admitting life was a "living hell" after she was left bed bound struggling with bladder problems.
She and Aaron Chalmers return to Geordie OGs tonight (Wednesday), alongside Holly Hagan, for the third series of the show, which was filmed during lockdown.
The former Geordie Shore co-stars are now both parents, and fans will see them adjusting to looking after young children and dealing with lockdown in the first episode.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, Marnie, 28, said: "For me, I was so ill. That was the biggest challenge. I was struggling to even do anything.
"I was bed bound for a few months, it was really hard.
"Everyone was like, 'Is it hard?' but I'm thinking, 'Rox is great, he's fine, it's me who's the f*** up at the minute.'"
Viewers will see Marnie really open up about her bladder issues, with her having to go into her car for a wee before boyfriend Casey Johnson pours it down a drain.
But she said it was something she had to share with the cameras, saying: "I had no choice because it was too hard to hide when I was living it, so I had no choice.
"It wasn't a comfortable thing to open up about because I don't like showing a vulnerable side, but I had no choice because I was living it.
"It was a living hell. I just thought I'm going to have to be open and honest because that's what we're on reality TV for – life isn't always perfect."
She went on: "One thing about us Geordies is, we're always very honest and we wear our hearts on our sleeves and show everything.
"A lot of reality stars don't admit this type of stuff and don't show it, so the fact we do, I think it takes guts if I'm honest."
Aaron, 33, agreed, telling us: "There's a lot of TV shows that people try and hide the real them to make themselves look good on camera.

"My relationship wasn't going through the best of patches but it's still on TV and a lot of people will relate to it because I can imagine a lot of people broke up in lockdown."
In the first episode, Aaron and his girlfriend Talia Oatway break up shortly after she gives birth to their baby boy Romeo.
Talia is already mum to her daughter Siennah from a previous relationship, so Aaron had a then-six-year-old to look after as well as a newborn.
Speaking of being a dad in lockdown, he told us: "I f***ing hated it. I've got Siennah as well, so it was trying to home school, have a newborn and keep a six-year-old entertained.
"It was nigh-on impossible because you couldn't go anywhere. The only place I could go was for a walk with the dogs or take her on her bike.
"It was really hard, but now things have started to open up it shows you can't take anything for granted."
