The star confirmed this to Metro back in 2018 when the end of the third season aired.
He told the publication: “I’m not sure where they stand with Our Girl at the moment. I know there were rumblings of it doing another series. I don’t think I could be a part of that.
“I’m doing another job which would make me pretty much unavailable depending on when Our Girl films. But I’m not sure I’d be available to be used.
“I was never in a contract to do another one, none of us were, so I guess it’d be basically who they could get back and, when they decide to do it, who’s available kind of thing.”
Since leaving, Aldridge has gone on to take a starring role in the Pennyworth series as Thomas Wayne and has appeared in the second season of Fleabag.

Our Girl season 4: BBC fans in turmoil as Captain James is ‘missing’
His exit does leave open the possibility for a return should the show come back for season five.
However, if he does reprise the role, it will not be with Keegan’s Georgie who is leaving after this series.
This is because the actor is leaving the role in order to spend more time in the UK.
So far, her replacement on the popular show has not been confirmed by the BBC.
Our Girl airs on Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC One.
