Amanda Owen is the star of Channel 5’s Our Yorkshire Farm, where cameras follow her, her husband Clive and their nine children around. The docu-series depicts not only their family life but the everyday running of Ravenseat Farm. While it may look like a better way of living at times, farm life does have its downsides.

How did Amanda Owen get a black eye?

Our Yorkshire Farm usually airs weekly episodes on Channel 5, giving fans an insight into the daily life of the Owens family.

But while the series isn’t on, the only way to keep up to date with them is through social media.

Clive Owen may not have an online presence but the Yorkshire Shepherdess does and continues to showcase what they do on the farm.

This includes any activities where farming can actually get dangerous.

Last week, Amanda took to Instagram to share a photo of herself with her sheepdog Kate.

This initially looks like plenty of her other pictures until you take a second look and see she has a shiner.

The following pictures show a close-up of Amanda’s injury and then one of her laying down with an ice pack on her eye.

Amanda’s post caption simply reads: “Injured in the line of duty. *Head-butted by a sheep*”.

Fans took to Instagram to comment and wish the Yorkshire Shepherdess well.

One follower wrote: “Ouch hope it isn’t too painful”, another said: “praying for quick recovery”, and a third added: “Oooh! Bet that hurt… get well soon”.

In a video posted earlier that same day, Amanda is seen shearing a sheep, which is presumably when the incident happened.

This hasn’t stopped Amanda from going out and about though as she is still working hard at Ravenseat.

Earlier today, Saturday, August 7, Amanda posted a video of herself and one of her children.

She wrote: “Out in force on the gather. There’s some wily old yows out there but eventually we will catch up with all of them.”

From the sounds of it though, the injury is still very painful, despite her carrying on as normal.

Amanda responded to a fan on Twitter who commented that her bruise looked sore.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess replied: “Awww jeez I can’t tell you how painful that was.

“Did wonder whether I’d fractured something, unbearable to touch.”

As she is very active on social media, Amanda is bound to keep updating her followers on the injury.

Our Yorkshire Farm is available to watch on Channel 5.
