Power Book 2, episode 2 promo: Will Monet have Tariq executed? Tasha issues son warning

Starz spin-off series Power Book II: Ghost has landed now with the show finally premiering on September 6. The drama will be airing weekly and serves as a continuation to popular series Power, which ended its run back in February. Following the game-changing first episode, fans are now keen to see what’s next for Tasha (played by Naturi Naughton) and Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.).
Will Monet have Tariq executed?
Starz has dropped a short promo for episode two of Power Book II: Ghost called Exceeding Expectations.
The trailer doesn’t bode well for Tariq, who could find himself in the firing line if queenpin Monet (Mary J. Blige) has anything to do with it.
Monet warns: “I can control anybody. When you know what someone wants, you give it to them or take it away.
“Believe it or not, there’s a method to becoming a savage in the game.”
Although it’s unclear who she is referring to, she is willing to pay the ultimate price for her own interests.
Tariq isn’t helping himself either as he becomes involved in a love triangle between Diana Tejada (LaToya Tonodeo) and Lauren (Paige Hurd).
Monet later says: “Anybody’s who’s around that boy for too long ends up either dead or locked up.”
Her words come as Tasha warns Tariq on the phone: “You need to get a gun right now.”
The inference is Tariq could have a hit on his head from Monet, who is highly suspicious of him.
While it seems unlikely Tariq – who is a major figure in the show – will be killed off, he appears to be making some enemies already.
To add to the sense of danger, one of Tariq’s college professors says there’s “no safe spaces” for Tariq at the educational institution.
The teaser also hints Tasha’s prospects aren’t looking too good either.
Someone tells Tasha: “Unless you start telling us the truth, this is the last outfit you’re gonna wear.” She is referring to Tasha’s bright orange jumpsuit.
Tasha is getting very desperate as she tells Tariq: “Just give Davis whatever he wants.” While Tariq responds: “I have to do anything to help my mother.
As the promo comes to a close, Tasha tells Davis: “I’m not lying!”
He hits back at her: “It’s not the truth that matters, it’s what we can sell to a jury.”
From the looks of it, things will be getting worse before they get better in the show and the stakes have been raised significantly as Tasha is up for the death penalty.
She was dealt a blow by Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) who wanted to take her down in his last attempt to make sure the St Patricks pay for their past cimes.
The show also introduced lawyer Davis Maclean (Cliff “Method Man” Smith), who was brought in to defend Tasha.
He will now have a vital role in keeping Tasha alive and perhaps even get out of prison.
