Pregnant Lacey Turner reveals if she's leaving EastEnders for good

Lacey Turner has revealed that she has every intention of returning to EastEnders.

The actress — who portrays Stacey Slater in the BBC One soap — revealed that she was pregnant earlier this week, amid reports that she was due to take another extended break from the serial drama.

Lacey told OK! Magazine: ‘We feel so lucky to be expecting our second baby, as it took so long to get Dusty.

‘After last time, we learned the best way was to have the attitude of ‘if it happens it happens’ – and then it did! It was a lovely surprise. It took so long with Dusty, but now they’re coming along like buses!

‘After the heartbreak we went through, it’s a miracle to fall pregnant so quickly.’

While Lacey will be taking an extended break from EastEnders, fans needn’t worry, as the actress has every intention of returning to Walford.

She said: ‘I’d love to stay there until I’m 90!

‘I just love working there and I love my character.

‘Plus, I manage to have a good work/life balance as we only live down the road from the studio, so I’m usually home for [daughter] Dusty’s bath and bed.’

Lacey made her on-screen return as Stacey in last night’s episode (September 21).

Stacey returned to Albert Square upon Kat’s (Jessie Wallace) request after Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) discovered that it was Stacey who had been stealing her money.

Interestingly, the character is now credited as ‘Stacey Slater’, as opposed to ‘Stacey Fowler’ — which signifies the possibility of some long-term friction between she and Martin (James Bye).

EastEnders continues Tuesday September 22 at 7:35pm on BBC One.
