RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice is ‘very shaken’ over Esther Salas’ family tragedy six years after judge sentenced her to prison – The Sun
REAL Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice is “praying” for Esther Salas’ family after hearing about the tragedy that took place at the federal judge’s home on Sunday.
Her son was shot and killed and her husband critically wounded after a disguised shooter entered their North Brunswick, New Jersey home.
Six years ago, Salas was the judge who presided over Teresa and husband Joe Guidice’s federal case and sentenced them to prison.
The RHONJ star’s attorney, James Leonard Jr., told The Sun: "Teresa was very shaken by the news and was very emotional when she heard about it.
“She told me that [she] would be praying very heavily for Judge Salas and her family.
“This is absolutely devastating.”
On Sunday, Salas’ son, Daniel Anderl, was killed after a gunman dressed as a Fedex delivery driver ambushed them inside their home.
Her husband — criminal defense attorney Mark Anderl — was also shot, and he was transported to the hospital with critical wounds.
This tragedy occurred just days after the judge had taken on an Epstein-linked case.
Back in 2014, Salas presided over Teresa and Joe Giudice’s fraud case.
Why did RHONJ’s Joe Giudice go to prison and when was he deported to Italy?
JOE Giudice went to prison alongside his wife Teresa for exaggerating their income, hiding increased assets and failing to file tax returns between 2004 and 2008.
The RHONJ’s reality TV star served 41 months in jail while Teresa only did 15.
Both Joe and Teresa were incarcerated on charges of mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud, People reported.
The couple reportedly made their situation worse by withholding information in court.
They were initially indicted in 2013 after hiding their money in a bankruptcy filing along with failing to file taxes for four years.
They pleaded not guilty but later decided to plead guilty.
They were first indicted the year prior, when they were accused of exaggerating their income, hiding increased assets and failing to file tax returns between 2004 and 2008.
The judge sentenced them to prison for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud, with Joe getting 41 months and Teresa receiving 15 months.
They were told to bring to the court thoroughly filled-out probation reports, but, according to the Salas, they did not do that and were still missing items adding up to $75,000.
The judge told Teresa: “On one hand, I see you’re a savvy businesswoman.
“But then you’re going to tell me you don’t know how to cooperate with probation?
“Full disclosure of your financial assets was a requirement. The lack of transparency, that’s what offends the court.”
The RHONJ star, 48, began her sentence in January 2015 and was released early, ending her sentence in December 2015.
In March 2019, after Joe, 48, completed his sentence, he was sent to an ICE facility and later deported to his native country of Italy.
He and Teresa — who are parents to daughters Gia, 19, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 14, and Audriana, 10 — split in December 2019 after 20 years of marriage.
