Spoilers: Nico forces Liberty to kill Sienna in shock twist in Hollyoaks?

Nico Blake (Persephone Swales-Dawson) is the devil who just won’t die in Hollyoaks – this time, she is back as a figment of a struggling Liberty Savage’s (Jessamay Stoddart) and Persephone has warned Metro.co.uk that if Nico manages to properly take over Liberty’s mind, there could be horrific consequences for both her and Sienna (Anna Passey).

The actress teased: ‘Hollyoaks fans know that when it comes to Nico anything could happen.  This time they need to watch Liberty and hope that she gets the help she needs before her fears get the better of her.

‘Nico is appearing this time as a manifestation of Liberty’s looming anxieties.  She’s taken the role of a devil on her shoulder, manipulating a very vulnerable new mother.

‘Playing Nico in this particular format has felt quite different as this time she is purely a vessel to convey Liberty’s fears.

‘The main difference between now and then is probably Nico’s focus which now revolves around keeping Faith with Liberty and preventing Sienna from becoming a mother again. Of course there will be a familiar Nico flair as she works on wearing down a suggestible Liberty.

I think Liberty could potentially be hallucinating Nico because when we last saw her, Sienna decided that Nico was too disturbed to be a mother herself and took her newborn baby away.  Sienna took Victoria away from Nico and then killed her and that could be haunting Liberty.’

Despite Nico dying twice on screen, Persephone has completely embraced the chance to revisit the role and the team at Hollyoaks.

She grinned: ‘I was lucky enough to be able to self-isolate during lockdown and stay safe at home with my family, but after a few months of quarantine, I’m definitely enjoying being back at Hollyoaks.  It feels wonderful to have a creative outlet again within a secure environment.

‘Most of my scenes have been two-handers with Jessamy and I.  I recall Liberty was just entering the village during Nico’s last stint so getting the chance to work with Jessamy has been lovely.  Especially being witness to her marvellous performances with very sensitive subject matter.

‘Coming back to work in Liverpool with the fantastic Lime Pictures crew is an opportunity I wouldn’t want to say no to.  They are some of the most supportive and professional people I’ve worked with.’
