Spoilers: Vanessa undergoes cancer treatment alone in Emmerdale

Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) has been through a lot over the past couple of months in Emmerdale — from being held hostage by Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather), to discovering that she’s got bowel cancer — but there’s more heartache on the horizon for her, as she heads for chemotherapy in the coming episodes — and she decides to do so alone.

With her chemotherapy approaching, Vanessa is incredibly nervous, and — on her first day — she encourages Charity (Emma Atkins) to remain at home to look after a poorly Moses, and thus she goes alone.

At the hospital, she begins her treatment by herself. However, Kerry (Laura Norton) passes by and sets her sights upon Vanessa, and decides to offer her support.

As the pair chat, the frosty tension between them begins to thaw — that is, until Charity arrives, and loses her cool. Yes, her reaction is an extreme one, that’s for sure, and thus Vanessa and her argue when they arrive home.

Upset by her fiancée’s behaviour, Vanessa turns to pal Rhona (Zoe Henry) for support, and the pair then embark on a boozy night out.

Matters are made worse when — during the night out — Vanessa bets a student that she can beat him at a game of pool — and Rhona is concerned.

Vanessa celebrates her victory by ordering more drinks, but when a uni student insults her, a row breaks out — and it’s all caught on camera.

Later, Charity sees the video circulating online, and she’s not pleased.

As the week carries on, Charity seeks solace in alcohol, but both she and Vanessa attempt to put their differences behind them — that is, until Vanessa asks a big question of Charity.

Charity doesn’t answer as Vanessa hoped she would, and therefore their rift remains unhealed.

What is it that Vanessa asks Charity to do?
