It’s hard for fans of the BBC reality show, not knowing which of their favourite celebrities will be donning their dancing shoes in the hopes of winning the Glitterball Trophy. But, they might not have to wait much longer as line-up rumours have started to begin. Liverpool player Jamie Carragher announced on a radio show that had been approached by Strictly Come Dancing bosses and hinted that this could be his year.

A number of celebrities have been rumoured to have signed-up, but Liverpool player Jamie Carragher has sent fans wild after talking to his pal Gary Neville on The Football Show.

It will be interesting to see if any of his football skills would translate on a dance floor, but sometimes the ones you least expect to get the high scores, come through as the strongest.

Talking to Gary and David Seaman, Gary dropped Jamie in it with a question about Strictly.

He said: “Dave you’ve been on Strictly Come Dancing and Carra’s been asked to go on the next season.”

David, of course, appeared on Dancing on Ice back in 2006 when it first started and even went on to marry his partner Frankie Poultney.

Gary quickly doubled back and said: “Oh, Dancing on Ice, sorry mate! I knew it was one of those programmes.

“But Carra’s been asked to go on, what advice would you give him?”

But, when asked what show he would be competing on, Jamie said: “I’m doing Strictly.”

David asked if Jamie could dance and the 42-year-old explained: “You’ll have to find out!

“I’ll have a go, once I’ve had a few bevvies down me. Well, we’ll see how it goes.”

The host of the show, Kelly Cates quickly admitted she had no idea if Jamie was serious or not.

She said: “Half of the time I don’t know whether he’s joking or not! Carra could be going on Strictly… I just don’t know.”

So has Jamie signed up for the 2020 series of the show or was it all a game? Viewers will have to wait and see.

Last year, viewers watched as Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher went from strength to strength in the competition with his partner Oti Mabuse.

Kelvin was brought in at the last minute after reality star Jamie Laing sustained a rather nasty injury.

Despite all of this, Kelvin proved he had quite the talent for dancing and the two were crowned the winners of the 2019 series.

There have been lots of famous names thrown into the hat over the last couple of months but still, no one has been confirmed.

SAS Who Dares Wins contestant and Youtuber Jack Maynard revealed to he would definitely give it a go if he was asked.

Youtuber Joe Sugg did very well for himself when he took part, and made his way into the final.

But, would Jamie Carragher be able to dance his way into the final and lift that Glitterball Trophy?

BBC has been contacted for comment.
