Feel the Beat, Netflix

It's all about the JOURNEY, right?

Released in the summer, this film has some gorgeous dance routines but also an emotional story at its heart.

Disney star Sofia Carson plays a mean girl dancer who will do anything to get to the top – even pushing an old lady out the way to get a taxi to an audition.

Shame the old lady is the one hosting the audition. So our tiny dancer goes back home with her tail between her thighs but learns what really matters – Clue: not just dance – when she trains a group of sweet-but-useless kids to take to the stage and feel the beat.

Work It, Netflix

Produced by singer Alicia Keys, this follows high school senior Quinn whose one and only dream is to get to a posh university.

But she needs to make herself look a bit more interesting at the interview, and pretends she's part of her school's dance troupe.

Shame she's got two left feet.

Cue lots of great dance sequences where Quinn learns to dance – just like they hope to do on Strictly by Week four.

  • Shailene Woodley and Ariana Grande win big at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards

  • Top 10 richest kids in the world – but billionaire Kylie Jenner's daughter Stormi doesn't make the cut

Think Craig Revel-Horwood has a waspish tongue and hard putdowns?

He's a pussycat compared to the infamous Abby Lee Miller, who is the boss of a dance studio for kids and the star of this reality series, from which mega star JoJo Siwa came to fame.

She's in charge of making sure that her girls – and more importantly their pushy parents – don't step out of line and keep up standards.

Rumour has it she's even tougher off-screen!

  • Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk ‘SPLIT’ after four years together

Bradley Cooper stars as a man with bipolar disorder who wants to win back his estranged wife.

A young widow (played by Jennifer Lawrence) offers to help him in return for him entering a dance competition with her.

It's a cute love story about how dance can lead to romance… as many of the Strictly Come Dancing stars have discovered for themselves…

Step Up, Amazon Prime Video

Some years before Magic Mike, Channing Tatum bopped his way to pin-up status in this cheesy teen flick. He's a bad-boy street dancer getting up close and personal with Jenna Dewan's wannabe ballet star.

The co-stars began dating shortly after filming ended in 2006, and after marrying and having a daughter, but the couple divorced in 2019.

  • Jessie J gushes over Channing Tatum in loving birthday tribute – sparking rumours pair have reignited romance

It is dancing, OK.

As anyone who has seen the routine that Magic Mike (played by Channing Tatum) puts together in his car garage can tell you – and probably insist on showing you – exotic dancers can bust-a-move in a way that will totally take your breath away.

And not just because they are topless.

The film tells the story of a group of male strippers in Florida who dream big – it's a surprisingly soulful flick.

Magic Mike XXL, Amazon Prime Video

This sequel upped the fun factor from the first film.

Channing Tatum and his gang of gyrating hunks go on a crazy road trip en-route to their last ever performance at a strippers convention.
