Manrika Khaira has revealed she was approached to star on the upcoming series of Love Island, but has turned the opportunity down.

The 24 year old finished in second place on Channel 4's hit reality show The Circle on Friday night, losing out to her love interest "Felix", who was being played by Natalya Platonova.

Vowing to earn the £100,000 prize fund for her family herself, Manrika has now opened up exclusively to OK! online about the opportunities that are coming her way following her stint in the Salford apartment block.

She has also discussed her feelings towards fellow player Hashu Mohammed, 28, who posed as 63 year old "Syed" on the show.

Speaking after the airing of the final, Manrika told OK! online: "I do social media full time now and I have done for a while and I love it.

"I was in recruitment before and I loved my job but it wasn't making me happy. I'm planning on working with quite a few big brands.

"Between the filming of The Circle and now, I've done so well. If I can continue on the scale that I am going, we're going to be absolutely fine.

"I've got nothing in the pipeline TV wise at the moment, I think I’m on a bit of a break with that, but I've got lots of campaigns with amazing brands, there's lots of things that I want to do. I'm really excited for what this year is going to bring."

She added: "I don't feel like The Circle is a reality TV show. I mean, it is a reality TV show, but it's a game show, and reality TV isn't something that I really watch.

"I got approached for Love Island at the start of this year, I knew I wouldn't have been able to do it because I'd done The Circle, but I took the call anyway out of professional curiosity.

"Love Island's not a show that I would ever do. I already get enough stick in the media living the life I do as an Indian girl, so if I went on to Love Island and shared a bed with a boy that I'm not married to for the whole world to see, it just wouldn't be great."

Opening up on her plans to get to know Hashu more, Manrika continued: "Me and Hashu speak every day.

"It's difficult because, when I was in the show I had no idea, and when I got out and Emma [Willis] interviewed me, she dropped a few comments but I was still confused.

"But watching the show, you realise the connection, you realise our bond. We speak every day but obviously, due to Covid, we've not been able to meet up, so when restrictions lift, who knows?"

Hashu added in a separate conversation with OK! online: "One thing with the whole Manrika situation is that she has found out how I felt towards her at the same pace as the British public because, as soon as the show finished, I was back to my normal, nervous self.

"Every time she messages I'm like, 'Okay, alright, Manrika's messaging me on WhatsApp'.

"We've built up a really great friendship, I'm really excited to get to know her, and we've got a meet up planned after lockdown so it's going to be really great to chill out with her and hang out and just see how things go."
