The Suicide Squad teaser drops with Nathan Fillion and Pete Davidson
James Gunn has dropped the first teaser for The Suicide Squad, with Nathan Fillion joining as TDK.
The director joined the DC FanDome panel to discuss the 2021 film and we finally got answers to who plays who in the highly-anticipated movie.
Idris Elba, who was confirmed a while back, will be playing Bloodsport while Nathan Fillion will appear as TDK.
Already sounds crazy, right?
That’s not all as the one and only John Cena stars as Peacemaker while Pete Davidson takes on the role of Blackguard.
The cast can’t get anymore amazing, surely.
Nathan Fillion as TDK
Nathan Fillion’s role remained a mystery for a while, with fans attempting to guess who he would be playing.
Thanks to the DC Fandome, James Gunn finally revealed that he will be playing TDK and we couldn’t be any more excited.
Speaking about joining the chaotic squad, Nathan said in February: ‘James Gunn, one of the people in my life that when he calls I just say ‘Yes to whatever you’re about to say. It’s yes, the answer’s yes.’
‘James Gunn is an amazing storyteller. That guy understands story, and he loves to tell story. So when he wants to do something you know it’s gonna be fun, you know it’s gonna be satisfying.’
Idris Elba as Bloodsport
Honestly, can Idris look any cooler?
After months of speculation, it was finally confirmed that Idris is playing Bloodsport.
The DC villain uses high-tech guns and weaponry with Kryptonite bullets which are teleported into his hands.
Peter Capaldi as Thinker
The Doctor Who star is the perfect person to play Thinker and with the casting confirmation comes us buying 300 tickets to watch the film
The Thinker is the name of four supervillains appearing in the pages of DC Comics.
He often shows up as a member of the Suicide Squad and the Injustice Society.
His powers include, as you can guess by the name, technologically derived telekinesis and mind control.
Pete Davidson as Blackguard
Pete Davidson rose to fame as a comedian on Saturday Night Live and look at him now.
Taking on the role of Blackguard, Pete gets to become the ultimate criminal, using his gadgets and energy-based constructs to wreak havoc.
And how cool does he look in that costume?
Flula Borg as Javelin
The German actor has gone from Pitch Perfect to a member of the Suicide Squad.
Flula Borg plays Javelin, a former Olympic athlete who became a criminal.
Of course, he creates an arsenal of weapons based on spears.
John Cena as Peacemaker
You can’t see him! He’s no longer a wrestler-turned-comedian, but an epic (extreme) superhero.
The actor plays Peacemaker, a superhero/soldier who’s willing to kill for the greater good.
Earlier this year, John was questioned while on Jimmy Kimmel Live on theories that the director created such a huge cast because there are multiple Squads in the film.
‘It’s really, really special,’ he said at the time. ‘That’s because the guy steering the ship is committed to narrative and committed to creating characters that we connect with and sending them on an awesome journey.’
Other cast members include Mayling Ng as Mongal, Sean Gunn as Weasel, Joel Kinnaman as Colonel Rick Flag, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
The director revealed that the cast and crew are still working on the film, but ‘is excited’ for everyone to watch the film in August next year.
The Suicide Squad follows this year’s Suicide Squad spinoff Birds of Prey, which once again saw Margot reprise her role of Harley Quinn.
He also served as an executive producer on last year’s Avengers: Endgame
The Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 6 2021.
