Tipping Point fans distracted by player’s annoying habit as Ben predicts big win
Tipping Point fans weren't impressed by one player's timing during Tuesday evening's show, as she faced the jackpot round.
Ben Shephard welcomed four contestants to the ITV studios, but one-by-one they were eliminated, leaving player Alyson as the victor.
Alyson hoped to earn enough cash from the jackpot round to fund a trip across North America, beginning in Canada and ending in Alaska.
She told Ben: “What I would really like to do, Ben, is to take the Rocky Mountaineer Train across Canada and maybe take on a cruise to Alaska.”
However, when it became Alyson's time to answer a few quiz questions, viewers weren't pleased by the pace with which she hit the buzzer.
Over on Twitter, certain nit-picking fans of the show accused her of slamming the buzzer too quickly, meaning the counter fell at the wrong moment.
One fumed: "The tipping point counter must weigh about 2 kgs."
"She must have a train to catch .. Slow down woman," added a second.
And a third chimed: "How had Alyson not learned to time her counters with what the machine is doing yet #tippingpoint."
Contrary to fans' reservations, Alyson proved an excellent player, delivering one correct answer after another.
When it came to the final question, Ben offered her the chance to gamble for the £10,000 jackpot, or to take home her money.
Ben hinted she should gamble, convinced she could win big, but playing it safe, Alyson decided to call it a day.
Accepting her decision, Ben then urged Alyson to play anyway, to see whether she would have won the jackpot.
Laughing, Alyson remarked: "You're going to make me do this, aren't you?"
However, the counter dropped in the wrong zone, earning zero pounds – meaning Alyson was wise to opt out of the competition.
Ben congratulated her, saying: "You made the right choice in the end."
Tipping Point airs on weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
