So when are its nature-mad presenters, and their live wildlife cameras back on our screens?

When will Winterwatch be back on BBC 2?

Winterwatch is bound to return in 2022, but the start date has not been released as yet.

The show has been airing since 2012, and is normally broadcast in January or February.

In 2021, the series started on BBC Two from January 19 at 8pm.

It then aired every night from Tuesday to Fridays up until January 29.

Winterwatch's first episode in 2021, which features host Chris Packham, surpassed the show's record for viewing figures.

It boasted an average of 2.6million tuning into see the nature programme on BBC Two, said the broadcaster.

That beat the equivalent episodes of the programme which aired in 2019 and 2020.

Packham said the rise in viewing figures came amid an increase in interest in the natural world as people seek "solace and respite in the simple perfection of nature".

Winterwatch is presented by Gillian Burke, Iolo Williams, Packham and his stepdaughter Megan McCubbin.

What happened in the last episode of Winterwatch 2021?
