Who is Viking on The Masked Singer? All the clues you need to know
The Masked Singer UK continues to be one of the most intriguing shows on TV.
Week after week, viewers have been left guessing about the identity of the singers – from Sausage and Badger to Blob, Harlequin and more.
The panel – made up of Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall – have been on the case, unearthing stars Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Mel B and Martine McCutcheon so far.
One contestant who has continued to baffle judges and viewers alike is Viking. The contestant first made a big impression with a performance of Songbird by Fleetwood Mac, with rumours of their identity spreading fast.
But what do we know so far? And, more importantly, who’s behind the mask?
What clues have we been given about Viking?
There are a few names already circulating online linked to Viking’s identity, with a few ideas to go on so far
The biggest hint came during Viking’s first VT, which he clearly emphasised the ‘king’ in the word ‘Vi-King’.
He also said after his first performance: ‘I may be a Viking but I also wear another kind of armour.’
The singer was also described as ‘curious’, teasing: ‘As in my career, throughout this competition I’ll be looking for a voice.’
During the fourth week of the competition, Viking teased that they ‘live by their instincts’, a trait that has helped them forge their career.
The character also teased that their work has taken them to ‘countries outside my own’, which they said while holding an American flag.
Viking stated that they like to ‘break the rules’, adding that they have found that ‘sometimes success can be found when I break something’, a statement they made while appearing to break a physical record.
Who could be Viking be?
We won’t know until his identity is revealed on the show of course, but a number of fans strongly believing that singer-songwriter James Blunt is under the mask.
How did they come to that conclusion? Viewers have been doing their detective work, with some believing the armour comment could be a reference to James serving in the Lifeguards before his singing career.
Others have simpler reasons, with one viewer saying: ‘I’m convinced Viking is James Blunt because it sounds exactly like him.’
The musician rose to fame in 2004 with the success of his album Back To Bedlam, which sold over 11 million copies and included the hit single You’re Beautiful.
So far, the judges have guessed A-ha star Morten Harket, Justin Lee Collins and Kaiser Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson.
Game of Thrones star Kit Harington or King Gary actor Tom Davis have also been raised as possibilities by viewers.
Who could it be? Only time will tell.
The Masked Singer returns Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
