Will Yasmeen Nazir leave Geoff Metcalfe in Coronation Street?

Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) and her evil husband Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) have been central to a hard-hitting domestic abuse storyline on Coronation Street for some time.

However, after watching Geoff put his wife through a vast number of indignities such as locking her in a box and convincing her she has a problem with alcohol, we’re finally seeing Yasmeen display suspicions about Geoff and his past.

With Geoff’s criminal history. about to be revealed to her, will this be the straw that breaks the camel’s back?

Will Yasmeen leave Geoff?

It’s a good sign that Yasmeen has finally shown herself to be suspicious of Geoff by calling the police and asking for information about her husband under Clare’s Law.

Clare’s Law, otherwise known as the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme, was introduced in 2014 and allows people to find out from the police if their partner has a history of domestic violence.

Therefore, in scenes tonight, Yasmeen will be told all about her husband’s past crime (or crimes) by two police officers.

She’s already stood to Geoff by insisting that she go to Zeedan’s wedding without him, so could finding out more about who her husband really is finally make her see that enough is enough?

If she does leave him however, Geoff will likely take it very badly.

Does Geoff’s lawless history involve violence? Could his psychological abuse of his wife turn physical if she keeps defying him?

Coronation Street is next on tonight at 7:30pm on ITV.
