Boy, 3, plummets out of New Jersey apartment window and is mauled to death by family's dogs
A TINY toddler is now dead after he fell out of his home window and landed in his backyard, where the family's dogs mauled him to death.
Police in New Jersey say they responded to an Elizabeth home on Wednesday evening to find the tot with serious injuries and rushed him to the a nearby hospital.
The Elizabeth Police Department was called to the child's home at 5:25PM; by 6:30PM, he was pronounced dead at Trinitas Regional Medical Center.
A neighbor told WABC that the little tot's mom was frantically panicking trying to pull the vicious canines off her son.
"I didn't sleep all night," neighbor Maria Rocha told the station. "My heart is broken. I didn't sleep all night."
"I cannot believe this happened to a little 3-year-old," Rocha added. "He's a baby. Could be mine, could be somebody else."
"He's a baby, and killed by dogs?"
"I just hope that he didn't suffer, you know what I mean?" she said. "I hope he didn't suffer, that it was quick."
The dogs belong to the child's family, acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca and Police Director Earl Graves said jointly on Thursday.
An investigation later revealed the dogs were fenced in the yard at the time of the child's accident.
Local animal control officials arrived at the scene to transport the dogs to another location.
There have been no criminal charges filed at the time of the incident.
