Insta star Alexis Sharkey's mom reveals family were planning Christmas hours before she was found dead naked on roadside

THE mom of an Instagram star whose naked body was found by the side of a road has described how they spent the days before her death planning Christmas together.

Alexis Sharkey, 26, went missing in Texas on Friday after reportedly having an argument with an as-yet-unidentified person before turning up dead.

Her body was found early on Saturday morning a few miles from her apartment by a garbage truck driver who spotted a pair of feet sticking out from under some bushes.

Friends had last heard from her at around 6pm on Friday, and after that phone calls began going straight to her voicemail.

The influencer – who had 21,000 followers on Instagram – had no visible injuries and her cause of death hasn’t yet been determined.

The Houston Police Department have said investigations into the death are ongoing.

Speaking to local station Click2Houston, Sharkey's mother, Stacey Robinault, said the family had been left "devastated" by the death.

“We are wrecked. We are completely wrecked,” she said.  

“Her cousins, her sisters, her 13-year-old sister. It’s just so difficult."

She said she hadn't been able to see her daughter since last Christmas and that they had been planning to spend this Christmas together in Pennsylvania.

“That's the longest we’ve ever gone,” she said.

“We were desperate to see her and excited to see her.”

Sharkey, the oldest of three sisters and a biology graduate, had moved to West Texas and become a full-time social media influencer.

She then moved to Houston with her husband in January.

Ms Robinault said that "nothing" about the circumstances of her daughter's death suggested it was accidental or anything "other than that this was done to her".

“The way in which she was found – my child would never do that to herself," she said.

“That doesn’t even make sense. That is absolutely foul play."

Following the discovery of Sharkey's body, husband Tom Sharkey, who she wed in December, said she was the "most amazing woman".

Sharing pictures of her in her wedding dress on Facebook, he wrote: "Never seen or felt such beauty! You are my world!

"You made life so incredible! Made sense of my existence! My purpose! And showed me how to truly love!"
