Mum who could only eat cheese and pasta has fear of fruit and vegetables cured by hypnotherapy

A MUM with a fear of fruit and vegetables for more than 20 years has been cured by hypnotherapy.

Jenny Edgar, 32, ate only pasta, chips, cheese, biscuits and dry cereal.

The health centre receptionist, who also avoided meat, gagged if she tried anything else and as a result avoided eating out.

Even Christmas dinner was just macaroni cheese.

Jenny said her phobia began in childhood when she hated the texture of some fruit and veg.

She said: “I didn’t even put them in my mouth in case I had to spit them out. As I got older I’d eat just cheese and pasta as I knew I liked them.”

It saw the mum of one, of Coventry, pile on weight to 17st 9lb.

So she decided to face her fear ahead of her wedding to data input worker Mark Lancashire next March.

Jenny visited hypnotherapist Russell Hemmings and after six sessions can now tuck into some of her most feared foods.

She said: “He talked to me in a relaxed way and got me to try five different fruits. After a few more sessions, he cooked fresh fish and veg which tasted great.”

Russell said: “Eating anxiety is often deep-seated in childhood. Jenny’s made great progress.”
