A ROLE model cop is due to appear in court today charged with four counts of rape.

Superintendent Mo Aziz also faces further charges of assault, coercive control and threatening to disclose sexual images.

The allegations relate to a single victim and are alleged to have occurred between 2015 and 2022.

Aziz, 48, was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s birthday honours list in 2020 for his services to diversity.

He was chair of Bedfordshire Police’s diversity advisory group and a leading light in the National Black Police Officer’s Association.

His efforts also helped to double his force’s intake of ethnic recruits.
Bedfordshire Police confirmed he was suspended after allegations were made last July.
