Anthony Kapel "Van" Jones is an American news commentator, author, and lawyer.
He is a CNN political contributor, the host of the Van Jones Show and The Redemption Project. He is also a popular guest on TV programs like The Daily Show and Real Time with Bill Maher.
A social justice advocate, he as co-founded several nonprofit organizations like the REFORM alliance.
The mission of the REFORM Alliance, according to vanjones.net, "is to dramatically reduce the number of people who are unjustly under the control of the criminal justice system – starting with probation and parole."
Jones is also a three-time New York Times Bestselling author.
The ex-Obama adviser recently stunned a presidential debate panel by praising Trump for doing “good stuff for the black community."
Who is his ex-wife Jana Carter?
Van Jones and Jana Carter were married for 13 years before they divorced last year.
The couple wed in 2005 and were together for more than a decade before Carter filed for divorce from Jones in September 2018.
Jones announced his pending divorce on Instagram, writing, "Divorce means the end of a marriage, not the end of a family. #FamilyForever."
In a statement to PEOPLE, the political commentator said, “though we have decided to end our marriage, we still love each other very much.
"We will continue raising our kids together, running our businesses together and supporting each other’s growth. There is no beef or drama – just evolution.”

The couple share two sons named Mattai and Cabral.
Carter asked for joint legal and physical custody in the divorce proceedings and the couple continue to co-parent their kids.
Is Van Jones dating again?
Last year, Jones appeared on the Wendy Williams show, where the host probed the commentator about his marital status.
"They are getting a divorce. The divorce is not finalized. You still wear your ring," Williams, 54, said to Jones, who was still wearing his wedding band at the time.
Jones first deflected the question by pointing out Williams' own ring in the midst of her high-profile divorce from Kevin Hunter.
Diplomatically addressing her initial query, Jones referred to Carter as "my best friend 20 years ago" and his "best friend today."
Williams then address his dating life, asking whether the CNN host would wear his ring while he was seeing new people.
"You getting personal man. First of all, I got no dating life…I'm good. I'm just trying to save the world," he replied.
"It's crazy because now my business is your business," she said, while laughing, "It’s kind of funny. Turnabouts a fair game, I get it."
